This image illustrates cross-bedding seen in the first sedimentary outcrop explored today. Note the different orientations of the rock layers, as well as the different characteristic clast sizes within each layer.

Robert Zubrin holds up an object that appears to be a fossil dinosaur bone found near the Canyon.

Jennifer Heldmann examines fossil outcrop nearwaypoint 23.

Lower Cretaceous fossil oysters found by EVA team.

This is an image of a rippled sandstone found at Waypoint 23 near the base of the large outcrop near the bottom of the canyon. The undulating features of this rock indicate depostion in a water environment. The ripples are seen face-on (as in this image) and are also very obvious when looking at the edge of the rock.

This is an image taken from the bottom of a canyon littered with large sandstone boulders. The underlying mudstone of the canyon walls has been eroded and undercut and hence the support for the overlying sandstone is removed, allowing the large boulders to tumble to the bottom of the canyon.

It shows Jennifer Heldmann and Robert zubrin sharing a light moment at the edge of the dry waterfall at the end of Lith Canyon.

The new and old members of the crew gathered together on the upper deck during the changeover ceremony. From left to right, Frank Schubert, Andrew de Wet, Robert Zubrin, Steve McDaniel, Heather Chluda, Tony Muscatello, Troy Wegman, and Jennifer Heldmann

This is a photo from the rim of Murphy Canyon (Waypoint 70). Note the large sandstone caprock deposits, and the large amount of boulders, rocks, and debris littering the sides of the canyon walls.
