Log Book for April 24, 2006
Commander's Check-In
Dr. William J. Clancey Reporting
Weather: Partly to mostly cloudy, with some bright sun; low 11.7c (53.1F) high 17c (62.6F), humidity 20% at 7 pm.
Crew Physical Status: The crew has been fully occupied all day with positive spirit.
Brief Narrative of Today's Results: Today we continued setting up systems. Bill and Brent installed six "listeners" for the Crew Activity Analyzer on the upper deck ceiling; these will track the crew's location using "Crickets" (radio frequency). Maarten worked on his "personal agent," which will attempt to keep track of what he is doing. Ron and Mike successfully tested the power system agents using simulated OneMeter data. They are working on having the OneMeter power monitoring system connect to the agent system (using Telenet). Vandi and Paul worked on translating the GenSet restart procedure from an ISS-style word document into XML and then PLEXIL (see mission info); the formalization revealed ambiguities and assumptions in the written procedure. John successfully tested three BlueTooth systems for coverage in the hab, finding the headsets will work everywhere, plus a short distance around the periphery outside. This system will enable us to wirelessly communicate with the power agent system using voice commanding anywhere in the hab.
EVA: none
Plans for Tomorrow: Continue installing the Crew Activity Analyzer, connect OneMeter to agent system, continue procedure formalization, and determine if it is possible for BlueTooth to reach the diesel generator from inside the hab under some configuration.
Report Transmission Schedule:
1. Engineering report has been filed.
2. GreenHab report by 9 pm
3. CDR Journal about 9 pm
4. Journalist report by 9 pm.
Inventory: Proceeding well.
Support Requested: No change; await Don's return or Paul's arrival for generator restoration.
Miscellaneous: The quality of the dinner is proportional to the number of pots and utensils used.
