Log Book for April 23, 2006
Commander's Check-In
Dr. William J. Clancey Reporting

Weather: Clear, persistent winds from the south, high 21.3c (70.3F). Observations at 4 pm: wind avg 11 mph S, max 15 mph; humidity 6%

Crew Physical Status: The crew is alert, busy, and in good humor.

Brief Narrative of Today's Results: Crew 49 moved into MDRS at 10 am this morning. We became familiar with the existing food inventory, stored new supplies, and moved into our staterooms. We have set up the hab internet systems to distribute addresses wirelessly through our own router, as some programming was necessary to use the satellite system on loan. We are refueling Wendy manually to keep it running because of previous problems with the automatic fueling and restarting. We have placed the grey water pump back into the grey water tank/hole, after removing a kink in the line feeding into Tank 1. The internal clean water tank refill pump did not work until we jiggled the float. We spent many additional hours reading manuals, learning procedures, finding and sharing URLs & email lists, etc. We began the process of connecting our agent system to the OneMeter power monitoring system.

EVA: none

Plans for Tomorrow: Install Crew Activity Analyzer, set up agent system, and begin discussions about procedure formalization. See our Mission Info page for descriptions of these projects.

Report Transmission Schedule:
  • Today's Engineering Report will be sent by 9 pm (filling in the web form requires some learning).
  • HSO and GreenHab Reports will be sent about 7 pm.
  • CDR Journal by 9 pm
Inventory: Although there are many spices, the basic supply is not complete. We are missing bay leaves, parsley, sage, rosemary. Yes, Mr Simon, we do have thyme.

Miscellaneous: Song idea-- "Don't go breaking my mouse."

Commander, MDRS Crew 49
