Commander's Check-In
Dr. Jan Osburg Reporting

Crew Physical Status: Everyone is OK but most are tired after a very active day.

Brief Narrative of Today's Results: Continued hab improvements (water tank pump cutoff sensor, preparations for power meter installation, patching shower holes, etc.) and did one EVA.

EVA: EVA05 went south again along Lowell Highway to continue radiation, shovel, celestial navigation and ISRU research. This time each PLSS pack was equipped with an APRS beacon; the EVA team also deployed a digipeater and a cross-band repeater on Radio Ridge before heading south. This provided excellent voice and data coverage throughout the EVA. EVA positions were transmitted live to the Internet.

Plans for Tomorrow: Continue hab improvements; do an exploration EVA to the northern section of Copernicus Highway.

Report Transmission Schedule:
  • Today's engineering report will soon be transmitted via the web interface.
  • HSO report will follow this check-in.
  • The other reports (CDR, SCI, UPG, JNL, EVA) will be transmitted between 2000h and 2030h.
Miscellaneous: Back to school for our friends at Georgia Tech, back to work for us!

Support Requested: The trailer is full of trashbags, and the water tank needs a refill.

More to follow.

Jan Osburg
Commander, MDRS Crew 47
