Hab Upgrade Report
Emily Colvin Reporting

Today was spent primarily with the generator. Jan and I went out in the morning to see the setup and exactly what we were going to need to get the entire GSM installed. We got the main body attached to the wall with some bolts found in engineering and a couple of rubber rings to insulate the Xantrex GSM box from the side of the generator control box. I still need to put a nut on the outside of the bottom bolt - this will require unscrewing the bolt a bit and screwing it into the nut held in place by a pair of needle-nose pliers. I'm just hoping the pliers are small enough to fit. Spoke to Don when he came out today and we've got all of the GSM wires electrical taped to the side of the control box to keep them out of everything else until we are finally able to get everything installed. We'll finish the installation as soon as we get longer, thinner screws/bolts (to attach the other two boxes to the bottom of the control box - we drilled the holes for the new part that wasn't there when it was installed on Casper) and data cable attachments from Don. But I know how to do everything now, so it should be a relatively quick install.

Related to the GSM install (finding bolts and rubber rings was a task), Anne is cleaning and organizing the engineering bench. There was equipment rusted through, other stuff unusable, and it was impossible to find anything. Pictures will be taken (it will be finished tomorrow) and we're going to try to get a full inventory done so that it's abundantly clear to future crews what is available - we purchased stuff before coming out here that turned out to be unnecessary because it was already out here. During this cleaning, we also discovered the other GSM cover, so it will be installed and the other unit will be left intact to be installed on Casper in the future.

Don also brought the power meter sensors today (it was like Christmas!!). I'll be going through it over the next couple of days along with my notes on where everything will be hooked up and correlating the written data with actual physical locations in the hab. Hopefully we'll be able to get all of the sensors installed by the time the main control box gets here.

Also, we discovered that the toilet tank was not being filled after a flush. Further investigation determined that the pump in the GreenHab has a loose connection. This has been temporarily corrected with a cable tie to hold the connection from coming loose. Later in our rotation, we will apply a more permanent fix.

Tonight, we'll be connecting the GreenHab datalogger to the Muskweb computer to gather wind data for the balloons which will hopefully be going up tomorrow.
