Log Book for March 21, 2006
Commander's Check-In
Dr. Jan Osburg Reporting

Crew Physical Status: Everyone is doing great. First showers were taken today and have had the expected revitalizing effects.

Brief Narrative of Today's Results: The planned balloon launch had to be postponed once more due to delayed deliveries, so we spent our first day in sim same as the last day out of sim: getting our research equipment set up and improving and upgrading the hab. From preparing the generator for automatic control, to getting the observatory on-line, to organizing the engineering area, Crew 47 is keeping up the Tech spirit.

EVA: none today.

Plans for Tomorrow: Set up the balloon system in the morning and do our first EVA in the afternoon (including tests of the celestial navigation, radiocommunications and radiation research procedures).

Report Transmission Schedule:
  • Today's engineering report has been transmitted via the web interface.
  • The HSO, UPG, JNL, EVA reports are attached below
  • The SCI and CDR reports will be transmitted later
Miscellaneous: We are currently experiencing the first significant rainfall since our arrival.

Support Requested: None.

More to follow.

Jan Osburg
Commander, MDRS Crew 47
