Log Book for March 17, 2006
Commander's Check-In
Veronica A. Zabala-Aliberto Reporting
EVA: Today we had no EVAs as the Crew catered to two personnel from The Washington Times and the film crew to Extreme Homes.
Crew Physical Status: All members of the F.L.A.M.E. crew are well rested, happy for the experiences shared during this past week and sadden for our departure tomorrow morning.
Brief Narrative of Today's Results: The day started with the younger members of the F.L.A.M.E. crew dancing the jig while the CDR and HSO were preparing our authentic Irish dinner of corned beef and cabbage with some salad, rice, and yams. By mid afternoon, our wonderful local support escorted the Extreme Homes film crew to the Hab to film what life would be like to live and work on Mars. In between filming and answering questions from the film crew, we entertained some questions for The Washington Times reporter that paid us a visit. Everyone took some glory shots of us in our MDRS suits and gave everyone a brief tour of the Hab.
In between all of this, we tried to clean up the Hab as much as possible, start our daily reports and pack as the Primary Crew of F.L.A.M.E. will be departing in the morning before noon. Our Exopaleontologist and HSO will stay behind to greet Crew 47 and initiate the Change of Command Ceremony on the Primary Crew’s behalf.
In the evening, we celebrated with good food, green "sparkling cider," Irish music and great deserts! The younger members of the crew, including some very special guests, danced the night away. We had Saint Patrick’s Day decorations all over the MDRS and took plenty of pictures to cherish our time on Mars. Within a week, we will accumulate those images and place them on our Crew’s Blog at: www.flamesstudy.blogspot.com
Plans for Tomorrow: The Primary Crew will depart for Earth before noon tomorrow. A reporter from The Washington Times will pay us on last visit in the early morning to let us view his work before we depart.
