Commander's Check-In
Veronica A. Zabala-Aliberto Reporting
EVA: Today the F.L.A.M.E. Crew carried out three EVAs. Two led by the CDR to Box Canyon and the third led by our Exopaleontologist to the Oyster Bed Site.
Crew Physical Status: Everyone is healthy and happy. We cannot believe that our rotation is coming to an end already. Time flies when living on Mars!
Brief Narrative of Today's Results: Today the F.L.A.M.E. crew woke up as scheduled and had our morning briefing. Right after breakfast we started to prepare for our EVAs to get in as much science as we could. We had a visitor from The Washington Times come with us on our EVA heading towards Box Canyon. The other reporter from The Washington Times did not show up as scheduled so we decided to take another EVA to Box Canyon to show our HSO and Chief Engineer the magnificant geology that Mars has to offer. While there, concretions, the size of a small child's fist were found. Some were perfect spherules, others elongated and some were weathering out of the host rock exhibiting beautiful hues of red, orange and yellow. The colors are attributed to iron within the host rock.
Upon our arrival it was noticed that the media still did not show. We cleaned up for the night, sat down to write our daily reports to mission support, have dinner and then enjoy each other's company by playing cards and watching videos as tomorrow will be the last night we will spend together as a crew...or shall I say, as a family.
Plans for Tomorrow: The F.L.A.M.E. crew will be in full simulation tomorrow in order to conduct at least two EVAs. We will have two reporters from The Washington Times and the "Extreme Homes" personnel coming to the MDRS tomorrow. It will be a busy day. The CDR is cooking a Saint Patrick's Day feast of corned beef and cabbage to honor the F.L.A.ME. crew and congratulate them on all their hard work while on Mars. The younger members of the crew will decorate MDRS with Saint Patrick's Day decorations as well.

Maintenance: ATV #1 is stalling out so our HSO, while on our first EVA of the day, fixed it by taking out the spark plug, cleaned it, and replaced it. He was our hero of the day!
Inventory: We have sufficient supplies.
Miscellaneous: We had a very productive day and came to realize that not all our science protocols were met due to the lack of time we had. We will continue to do our research until tomorrow evening unto which we will have to then pack up our belongings to prepare for our trip back to the "Good Earth".
Support Requested: None at this time.
