Commander's Check-In
Veronica A. Zabala-Aliberto Reporting
EVA: We left on EVA in SIM to test out our ATVs around MDRS and used our GPS in order to continue F.L.A.M.E.'s training in field investigations.
Crew Physical Status: Everyone is healthy and happy.
Brief Narrative of Today's Results: This morning the F.L.A.M.E. woke up according to when we were suppose to according to our wake/sleep cycles for our Human Factors Study. After our breakfast and morning briefing the crew started to finish their tasks of cleaning and painting the hab. Once we were done with all our chores and had lunch, our HSO and Chief Engineer went outside on a pedestrian EVA to finish the tunnel that Crew 45 had started in honor of Robert A. Heinlein. Unfortunately, they were not able to complete this task for there were not enough materials to finish. ATV training took place after the construction of the tunnel in which our HSO and Chief Engineer completed an out of SIM training to familiarize themselves with the ATVs and the local terrain. Once successfully completing the ATV training, a photographer from The Washington Times came by and joined us on an EVA to test out the ATVs for tomorrow's 'In SIM" EVAs. We then enjoyed a wonderful Italian dinner created by our HSO which consisted of marinara sauce with freshly cut bell peppers, mushrooms, garlic, and onions with garlic bread.
Plans for Tomorrow: The F.L.A.M.E. crew will be in full simulation tomorrow in order to conduct at least two EVAs along with our new friend, Joe, from The Washington Times. We will then expect a reporter from The Washington Times to pay us a visit on Mars.
Report Transmission Schedule:
1. Commander's Check-in, 19:30
2. Engineering Report, 19:30
4. Journalist Report, 21:00

Maintenance: The F.L.A.M.E. crew painted the 1st and 2nd floor of the Mars Desert Research Station. The MDRS Science Laboratory was cleaned, swept and polished. The Heinlein Tunnel was almost completed until materials ran out. A new thermostat was installed on the 1st floor of MDRS and the ATVs (1-3) were fixed and are now operational.
Inventory: Sufficient.
Miscellaneous: The CDR is very impressed on the relations that have developed between the crew members and has also noticed increased productivity.
Support Requested: We will be in need of white duct tape, thumb tacks (for postings), wide packing tape, and plastic table clothes for galley table.
