Log Book for March 12, 2006
Commander's Check-In
Veronica A. Zabala-Aliberto Reporting

Crew Physical Status: Everyone is in good spirits and healthy.

EVA: Today we took a short out of SIM EVA led by Ben Huset to the Musk Observatory. I am saddened that we will not be able to use the telescope on this rotation. Weather permitting we are hoping to take a few shots of the night sky. The surrounding terrain is very washed out and slippery due to the affects of the winter storms we are experiencing. We may not be able to do an effective EVA for another day due to the terrain conditions but I am hopeful that by the time Stacy and Todd come we will be able to initiate our field investigations.

Brief Narrative of Today's Results: As I write this the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter had a successful entry into orbit around Mars. The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, will provide more science data than all previous Mars missions combined. Additional information about Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter is available online at: http://www.nasa.gov/mro . The F.L.A.M.E. crew would like to congratulate the MRO Team on all their hard work!

Plans for Tomorrow: Tomorrow we will do two EVAs; one in the morning for CDR Zabala-Aliberto's concretion studies, the second for Angelina Zabala for her soil sampling (all weather permitting). Our crew will also do some house keeping and some painting of the Hab to clean it before the media arrives (Wed.-Fri.).
