Health, Safety, & Human Factors Report
William Fung-Schwarz Reporting

Crewmember & Individual Health: As was planned on Day 08, crewmember worked a half day today and have the afternoon and early evening off. This extra time away from work duties was encouraged by the Commander (who had to be reminded to “stop” working).

Team Wellness: Discussion began today about going home. The team must now deal with a normal crew rotation, preparing for Crew 46's arrival, and organization of training items.

Safety Inspection: See the “Design Challenge” report for information on a new demonstration project happening in the Main Engineering. Peter consulted me today about the design of hand railings leading into and out of the new Pressurized Tunnel. The Musk Observatory was swept and a trash can added to collect refuse. Continued work was done today on the “virtual” pressurized tunnels leading to Main Engineering.

Human Factors Research: Semi-structured individual crewmember interviews will begin in a few days. The questions will include:
  • During the Artemis Moonbase Simulation One, what things/situations made you feel happy, sad, angry, and/or mad?
  • Would you participate in an MDRS crew again? Why/why not?
  • What were your thoughts, feelings, and reactions about the crew composition?
  • What specific design/architecture ideas/suggestions do you have for: your work area, your private stateroom/cabin, and the common/living area?
Daily Evening Group Sharing Activity:
(to protect crewmember privacy, responses have been grouped and only composite themes are reported):
  • Thorns (Hassles/Challenges/Threats): didn't like the carbohydrate part of dinner, late to dinner, disappointing results on GreenHab issues
  • Roses (Uplifts/Salutogenic Factors): getting into a good schedule, did a good job today, feeling better, fish for supper was good
Plans for Tomorrow:
  • Schedule and conduct 2-5 semi-structure individual crewmember interviews
  • Coordinate with Laurel food inventory communication with Veronica Zabala (Crew 46) and Jan Osburg (Crew 47)
  • Conduct last trial of MoonSkin MCP suit (and document results/recommendations)
  • Continue (as time allows) demonstration hazardous chemicals/materials storage area
  • Continue (as time allows) trail maintenance to/from Musk Observatory and “simulated” tunnel to Main Engineering
  • Begin to pack to go home
