Engineering Report
Steven Winikoff Reporting
Generator/Electricity:
Casper: not used
Wendy Hobbs Meter: 2896.6 hrs
Voltage: 120 VAC
Frequency: 61 Hz
Oil Level: full
Oil Pressure: 30 PSI
Water Drained: no
Xantrex Inverter/Dynasty Batteries:
Time - Voltage (Temp Comp) - Load - Temp - Generator Running?
19:57 - 23.0 - 09 - 18 - off
20:23 - 25.5 - 08 - 18 - on
01:07 - 27.5 - 08 - 19 - on
01:12 - 25.1 - 03 - 19 - off
07:46 - 23.9 - 05 - 17 - off
08:14 - 26.6 - 09 - 17 - on
11:57 - 27.5 - 04 - 19 - on
12:15 - 24.6 - 05 - 19 - off
Fuel Status (as of 17:20):
Diesel: Approximate Reading - full
Notes/Comments: Tonight will be the first test of our new version of Don's collection idea for the diesel leak. Peter found a sheet of metal and cut it into a channel which goes far enough under the generator to have a chance of not being vibrated out of position.
Propane Tank: Approximate Reading - 78% (780 gallons = 2952.6 L)
Gasoline:
Consumed Today: 0 gallons = 0 L
Quantity Remaining: 34 gallons = 128.7 L
Oil:
GenSet Quantity: 0 quarts
ATV Quantity: 10.5 quarts
V'ger Quantity: 14.5 quarts
Notes/Comments: We didn't actually use 3 quarts of ATV oil today -- what happened is that the 3 bottles of 5W30 I found when we arrived were actually empty. I didn't think to pick them up to weigh them originally. Today they were blown out of place by the wind, which is when I noticed the discrepancy.
Water Status:
Outside Potable Water Tank Level: 400 gallons = 1514.2 L
Trailer Potable Water Tank Level: 27 cm from the base
Water Meter Reading: 7470.0 gallons = 28276.9 L
Water Consumed: 86.7 gallons = 328.2 L
Grey Water Used: 27 gallons = 102.2 L
Flushes: 10
Showers: 2
Sponge Baths: 0
Tonight's Meter Readings:
Out to Toilet: 1219.7(+27 since yesterday)
In to GreenHab: 2546.4 (+577.8 since yesterday)
Considering that we haven't flooded several square miles of desert and completely washed away the GreenHab, I'd say we have conclusive evidence that that meter is untrustworthy. Leslie has been thinking about how best to fix this, and will be in touch with the ET directly. Regardless, based on the level of tank 5, we definitely seem to be keeping the GreenHab in balance even with the relatively small number of showers.
GreenHab:
Crops Watered: yes
Crop Condition: The white fly treatment had to be postponed to tomorrow, but in the meantime the plants seem to be responding very well to the additional water.
Transportation:
V'ger: Used - no
Oil Checked: no
Fuel Consumed: 0 gallons = 0 L
Tire Status:
Kawasaki ATV 1: Used - no
Oil Checked: no
Fuel Consumed: 0 gallons = 0 L
Tire Status: good
Kawasaki ATV 2: Used - no
Oil Checked: no
Fuel Consumed: 0 gallons = 0 L
Tire Status: good
Kawasaki ATV 3: Used - no
Oil Checked: no
Fuel Consumed: 0 gallons = 0 L
Tire Status: good
Notes/Comments: No EVAs today.
HVAC: Nothing further to report.
Mars Surface Suits: All suits were worn today (just the coveralls, without the backpacks or helmets) for an indoor photo session. After that, photos of the coveralls themselves were taken for upload, so the STF can see their current condition. Those will be sent later tonight.
Computers/Networking Infrastructure: Nothing further to report.
Appliances: Nothing further to report.
Data Logger: Nothing further to report.
Upgrade Work: Nothing further to report.
Notes/Comments: One of the orange metal chairs died today. Apparently it had already been damaged and partially repaired with tape; I didn't see what happened to it today, but I saw the evidence later -- and our HSO confirmed that it's not reparable, so it will go out to the engineering area tomorrow.
