Log Book for March 1, 2006
Commander's Check-In
Peter Kokh Reporting

Thanks to the weatherman's failure to deliver the threatened rain, today was not a mud day as expected. Peter was thus able to make more progress on the construction of the simulated pressurized tunnel we are building between the Mars Hab and the GreenHab. We decided to hold a contest to name the tunnel. It may not be named after a living person, and the name should have meaning to both lunar and Martian pioneers. Entries should be sent to the crew journalist, Guido Meyer at Guido.Meyer@t-online.de by Wednesday, March 8th. We introduced Sim Lite today. See today's Sim Lite report.

EVA: There were no full Sim EVAs today as all crew members were otherwise occupied. We expect a clear moonless night and we hope that if these conditions still apply when we are finished uploading our reports and pictures for the day, to go outside briefly to enjoy the stellar treat.

Crew Physical Status: One crew member still has a cold but is feeling better. He has been able to work every day. But another crew member came down with a condition that may run the same course. We are watching both. One of the risks in close quarters is that a virus or infection will spread throughout the crew unchecked. If one is sick, all may be exposed. We are practicing good prophylactic medicine and staying in touch with the MDRS remote doctor.

Plans for Tomorrow: Tomorrow our ongoing projects will continue in the morning, but we may take a well-earned afternoon off.

Report Transmission Schedule:

1. Commander's Check-in, 19:00
2. Engineering Report, 19:30
3. EVA Report, 21:00
4. Science Report, 21:00
5. Journalist Report, 21:00
6. Photographs, 21:00
7. HSO Report, 21:00

Maintenance: All utilities performed perfectly again today, and Steven keeps smiling. Thanks to the previous crews this season for all their hard work getting the utility systems straightened out.

Support Requested: Steven emailed Ben Huset today about problems with the webcams, and to the Engineering Team about problems uploading pictures with the WebDav.
