Peter Kokh Reporting

We made progress on several fronts today. First, we put up a Moon flag. It is not a flag of the Moon, nor the flag of the Moon Society. It is a flag flown by this crew. Following suit to the Mars tricolor red-green-blue (after the science fiction trilogy of Kim Stanley Robinson, Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars) we adopted a tricolor of our own: gray for the color of the lunar surface, blue for the hydrogen we must scavenge from the moon dust to make water, green for the verdant mini-biospheres in which we will live. Right now it is whipping in the fierce winds that arrived this afternoon. Meanwhile the Mars Society tricolor continues to fly proudly over this analog realm, as it should.

Peter got a start framing the top of several sections of the simulated pressurized tunnel we are building between the Mars Hab and the GreenHab. The design has been approved by the MDRS Engineering Team. You can watch our progress on the Observatory webcam.

Hugh got a start on Project MAST today, riding with Don Foutz, our agent in Hanksville. Meanwhile, Leslie Wickman arrived today to join the crew and begin work on monitoring the efficiency of the GreenHab water recycling system with a view to advising the Mars Society on step by step improvements.
