Health & Safety Report
William Fung-Schwarz Reporting
Crewmember & Individual Health: Individual crewmembers are adapting to the isolation and confinement of the Moonbase at different speeds. Prior familiarization with the physical environment may or may not facilitate adaptive coping with subsequent missions.
Team Wellness: The team meeting this morning was a little delayed, but the group was able to articulate what each member wanted to do. We all negotiated with whom who would do what.
Safety: Engineering area was inspected for safety hazards today. I will be working with Steven on a possible solution to temporary gas/oil spillage onto the desert floor (to reduce fire hazards).
Human Factors Research: Those participating crewmembers have been helpful to point out grammatical and spelling errors on the survey. Their help is much appreciated. Many participants are choosing to complete the optional fun activities (like the crossword puzzle and mad lib).
Daily Evening Group Sharing Activity
(to protect crewmember privacy, responses have been grouped and only composite themes are reported):
- Thorns (Hassles/Challenges/Threats): day too short, missed opportunity to do EVA earlier in the day, computer communications delay lag, stagnant air in stateroom, early morning misunderstanding
- Roses (Uplifts/Salutogenic Factors): gorgeous weather today, no engineering failures, achieved work goals today, spent time looking out of the window today, helping a fellow crewmember
Plans for Tomorrow:
- Habitat "deep" clean (all surfaces, door knobs, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping)
- Finish labeling in-coming food supplies "C45" so as to help with food inventory and rotation
- Finish Bi-weekly Habitat inspection
- Assist with ATV and analogue suit training
- Plan focus groups (Leslie arrives tomorrow)
