Commander's Check-In
Melissa Battler Reporting

EVA: We had two short EVAs today (EVAs 4 & 5) to test the data- loggers and practice HERMES field exploration methodology in full simulation.

Crew Physical Status: Happy & healthy.

Brief Narrative of Today's Results: Today Ryan led a HERMES tutorial in the hab, to teach the crew about the first half of the exploration methodology: Scouting. Immediately after, half of the crew (Ryan, André, John, Jonathan) went on EVA #4 to practice HERMES in the field, while the other half of the crew remained at the hab to perform various tasks, including attempting to set-up Skype (phone-by- internet communication), to prepare for a potential interview with CBC radio-1 tomorrow. Upon EVA #4s return, the entire crew discussed the morning's EVA, before the second half of the crew (Melissa, Danielle, Lealem, Kevin) headed out to practice HERMES. After dinner tonight we will take some free time to work on personal research and papers, including applications to attend the 2006 International Astronautical Federation (IAF) Congress.

Plans for Tomorrow: Tomorrow we will conclude HERMES training, as we learn about the detailed scientific study component of the methodology, first in the hab, then in the field.
