Journalist Report
Lealem Mulugeta Reporting

The day began early today. Commander Battler led a yoga exercise, which helped to energize the crew for the busy day ahead.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast prepared by crewmember John Thaler, Commander Battler briefed the crew on the objectives of the day. During the Commander's briefing Don arrived at the hab to further familiarize the crew on critical engineering and safety issues we need to be aware of throughout the expedition. This was very helpful in that it allowed us to become more aware of what is required to keep the hab running at optimal conditions, and how we as a crew are performing in utilizing the hab resources. Don concluded his visit by helping the crew conduct basic maintenance on the ATVs and move their vehicles to the designated parking area.

The afternoon was filled with more excitement for 5 of the 6 crewmembers as they got a taste of their first EVA training. The excursion lasted for approximately two hours and it was lead by Melissa and Ryan, and documented by crew geologist André. The crew took full advantage of the opportunity to learn from the experience and wisdom of Melissa and Ryan. The discussions between the crew biologist and geologists during the excursion were highly productive and gave the rest of the crew a great opportunity to learn more about the scientists' field of study.

Once we returned to the hab from a productive EVA training, we returned to our daily task of writing reports and running system checks, followed by a satisfying dinner which was once again prepared by "Cuisinier" Thaler.

Overall the day was highly productive and ridiculously fun!
