EVA Reports
Crew 40 Reporting

EVA-17:
Anne Pacros, Natalie Cutler & Cécile Sainte Marie Reporting

Objectives: The Remote Science Team gave us the co-ordinates of Lith Canyon and Dinosaur bones close to that canyon so we decided to train ourselves to use the GPS and to investigate the geology of the site.

EVA Team
Crew: Anne Pacros, Natalie Cutler and Cécile Sainte Marie
Hab Comm: Sheryl Bishop

Planned Route: Lith Canyon via Lowell Highway.

Timeline:
Egress: 1130 MDT
Ingress: 1430 MDT

New Waypoints Established: None

Narrative: We decided to first follow the GPS instructions to try to find the Dinosaur bones because that was the closer of the two GPS points. It was not so easy to find the exact place first because of the GPS accuracy, secondly because this zone is very hilly. 6 meters from the GPS point, we found an area with what could be Dinosaur bones, but we need the crew professional Geologist to verify. We can also say that the area seemed to be washed out by a flash flood, so what we saw at this place may be different from what previous crews saw. Then, we went down the canyon and found pieces of petrified wood, up to 15 cm length.

See Geology Report for more details and pictures.

EVA-18:
Christyne Legault Reporting

Objectives: Installed the Aeolian energy system and measuring the strata sequence at the Mona Lisa canyon.

EVA Team:
Commander: Christyne Legault
Crew: Tiziana Trabucchi
Hab Comm: Natalie Cutler

Planned Route: South, South East

Timeline:
Don Suits: 15 30 MDT
Enter Airlock: 1600 MDT
Egress: 1602 MDT
Enter Hab: 1715 MDT

New Waypoints Established: N/A

Narrative: We set up the Aeolian energy system that the students built for their experiment. It was not easy to set up on the ground because of the high winds. Afterwards, we went to the Mona Lisa canyon to measure the strata sequence on one of the cliffs. We spent only a brief amount of time on this task before bad weather force us to return to base.
