  • Space Suits - GO!
  • GreenHab - GO!

Engineering pleased to report that all systems are go here at MDRS!

    Time Battery
    Voltage
    Current
    Load
    Generator
    on?
    08:30 23.3V 3A No
    10:00 24.5V 6A Yes
    19:30 26.8V 6A Yes
    Generator/Electricity:
Replacement stator coil arrived with Don this morning. Casper generator repaired. Great sight to see 35A pouring into the Hab Inverter. Hab batteries are fully charged, now trickle charging. Coleman offline from 10:30am. Casper online from about 14:00. Casper appears to be successfully maintaining generator battery voltage. This will be confirmed tonight when the generator is switched off for the night.

    At 17:30:
    Casper Generator Oil Pressure: 40
Generator battery voltage: On border between 'yellow' and 'green'.
    Generator Load Performance: 25%

    Fuel Status:

Fuel resupply occurred this afternoon. Gasoline containers (5gal): 9xfull, 1xhalf full

    Diesel Fuel Bottles: 2xfull

    Oil Bottles:
  • Grade=30: 6xfull, 1xhalf full
  • Grade=20-50: 1xhalf full
  • Grade=5-30: 1xfull

Generator Main fuel tank: three quarters full Propane tank: 45.5%

    Water Status:
    Internal tank:
  • At 10:00 level was 29gal, refilled to 55gal.
  • At 17:00 level was 35gal, refilled to 51gal.
  • At 19:15 level was 34gal. Total water used = 37 gal.
    Water meter change:
  • 2297.9 (at 10:00)
  • 2334.8 (at 19:15)
    Total water usage = 36.9gal
External water tank: Refilled tank returned at 17:00. Currently 34 inches on deeper side.
    Flushes: 6
    Showers: 2 + 2 laundry hand washes

Transportation: All three ATVs used for morning EVA. EVA team commented that ATVs #2 and #1 pulled to the left, due to low pressure in left rear tires on both. One EVA is enough to cause noticeable deflation of tires, ie pressure leak will need to be repaired at some stage. Both re-inflated during second (walking) EVA. ATV #2 and #3 used for third EVA of the day. All ATVs fuel tanks indicated full, but were topped up anyway. Oil checked. Pressurised Rover: Not used.

    Mars Suits:

PLSS #2 opened and wire loose from battery terminal reattached (see images sent to Engineering). PLSS #5 opened and loose connection to on/off switch re-soldered. PLSS #2 canvas worn through at lower seams. Patched (see before/after images sent to Engineering).

All PLSS now operative. All charging lights green for the first time! (What a beautiful sight!) See images sent to Engineering. If I have a chance over the next few days, will add water connection hole to Helmet #1.

HVAC: Not used during the last 24hrs.

Computers & Network: Operational. Network/internet connection lost for ~20mins during the morning.

    GreenHab:
  • Tank #1: Full, but not flowing to next tank
  • Tank #2: Full, but not flowing to next tank
  • Tank #3: Full, but not flowing to next tank
  • Tank #4: Full, but not flowing to next tank
  • Tank #5: Full!!!!

TFT in Tank #5. GreenHab is now in an operational state and our water usage over the last few days is sufficient to maintain this.

Not sure if filtration process is working, as there is still a lot of slime.

    Miscellaneous:

Photo-documentation of Hab exterior and Engineering area complete. Images sent to Engineering Team. Laboratory contents also photo-documented. Images will be sent to Remote Science Team.

DC fuse box voltage measured: Interior bank: 11.06V, Door-mounted bank: 12.50V. Please advise if this is expected.

It's been a good day for us here. Hot showers, fresh bread, hairdryers. Thanks for getting us back 'in working order' Mission Support!
