Generator/Electricity:

Power situation now stable. Ran overnight on battery power, still in low power mode while generator is off. Typical daytime load is 4-5A. Low power load is 1A.

Started Coleman generator at 08:30 this morning. Stopped and refuelled at 14:30. Stopped and refuelled at 19:30 for water heater for showers. Will switch off at midnight. Expect delivery of replacement part for Casper tomorrow. Casper expected to be online by tomorrow evening.

Fuel Status:

Gasoline Containers: 9xempty, 1xfull, 1xhalf full

Diesel Fuel Bottles: 2xfull

Oil Bottles:
  • Grade=30: 6xfull, 1xhalf full
  • Grade=20-50: 1xhalf full
  • Grade=5-30: 1xfull

Generator Main Fuel Tank: three quarters full

    Propane Tank: 45.5%

Note: will be all out of gasoline by end of tomorrow. Expect delivery of more gasoline when water arrives tomorrow however so this will not be a problem. Please advise if this is NOT the case.

    Water Status:

    Internal Tank:
At 10:15, level was 32gal, refilled to 55gal.
At 21:00 level was 34gal. Total water used = 21gal.
    Water Meter Change:
At 10:15 meter read 2273.1, and at 21:00 level read 2293.3. Total water used = 20.2gal
External Water Tank: 10 inches on deeper side. Expecting refill tomorrow.
    Flushes: 5
    Showers: 2 + 1 sponge bath

    Transportation:

ATV #2 and #3 taken on early EVA today. All three ATVs taken on later EVA. ATV #1 and #2 developed slightly low pressure in left rear tire. Inflated with 12V compressor using 12V outlet on ATV #2. 12V outlet on ATV#1 did not work. Fuel tanks refilled post EVA, oil checked. All ATVs now have full fuel tanks.

    Pressurised Rover: Not used.

Mars Suits: PLSS #6 opened and repaired - connection to negative terminal of battery had come loose. PLSS #2 opened and repaired broken wire to charging socket. Sliced thick solder into fine shavings and used with solder paste (flux) with some success. PLSS #2 had several other weak connections that were not repaired, and developed another problem during the afternoon. Will be opened again and ALL the wires resoldered securely in place. PLSS #5 scheduled for repair after this.

HVAC: Not used during the last 24hrs.

Computers & Network: Operational. Network very slow during the day, made sending images via email or over the network quite a painful process.

    GreenHab:
  • Tank #1: Full, but not flowing to next tank.
  • Tank #2: 1 inch low.
  • Tank #3: 1 inch low.
  • Tank #4: Full, but not flowing to next tank. Noted some suds on surface.
  • Tank #5: 2 inches low
  • TFT in Tank #5.
  • Unplugged timer and 'heating' light in the GreenHab.

Miscellaneous: Painted the valve that was looking rusty as directed. Disconnected pipe which was repaired with PVC cement yesterday seems to be holding. Despite only 2 showers yesterday and 10 flushes by this morning, the GreenHab levels are rising, hence our water efficiency has increased dramatically most likely due to this pipe repair as our water usage patterns have not changed dramatically. Planned an EVA tomorrow to photo-document the state of the Hab exterior and surrounds.
