Log Book for May 7, 2005
Commander's Check-In
Anne Pacros Reporting

Weather: Very unstable weather today, a few showers then mostly sunny tonight. Highs around 60F.

Crew Physical Status: Everybody is doing great, feeling relaxed and rested!

Brief Narrative of Today's Results: Today was our day off, so everybody could relax and catch up on things. Maintenance activities and one short EVA in the MarsSkin suits.

The Schedule: No schedule, this is the point of having a day off !!! :-)

EVA: 4:50 to 5:50 pm, EVA 10 with 2 crewmembers within walking distance of the Hab to test MarsSkin suits and use the GPS to locate a fossilized vertebrae skeleton (found by Crew 23 last year).

Report Transmission Schedule: Commander check-in, Engineering report, 1 EVA report (includes Geology), daily log.

Maintenance: Tried (unsuccessfully) to install outside panel to cover the LPG connections; fixed the water pipe under the Hab with glue; worked on fixing one of the spacesuits backpacks but would need thin solder (only thick solder could be found).

Inventory: When we went away on our day-long EVA yesterday, we could not find the Hab key(s?) anywhere so we used our personal locks to close the Hab. Could you explain again were these keys are supposed to be stored and what is the procedure to lock the hab (front door and back door)? We will need it next Saturday when we leave…

Plans for Tomorrow: Resume regular science activities including CRV tests, student experiments, MarsSkin tests.

Miscellaneous: nothing to report.

Support Requested: Since the parts for the Casper generator have not arrived yet, we run on the backup generator so we will need more gasoline. Some has already been ordered (from Engineering email yesterday) but how much? We now need gasoline for the generator, the ATVs and possibly for the blue truck (see engineering report for exact quantities we have left).
