Log Book for May 6, 2005
Commander's Check-In
Anne Pacros Reporting
Weather: Very nice weather and clear skies this morning when we woke up; went through a few showers during the day; very windy (dust storm!) after 2 pm.
Crew Physical Status: Everybody is doing great!
Brief Narrative of Today's Results: EVA in the pressurized rover for the 6 of us; went to Factory Butte and farther North until we arrived at a point where the road was washed out by a river and we had to go back.
The Schedule: 8 am breakfast, EVA between 9 am and 3 pm.
EVA: Left the hab in the blue truck at 9 am. Stopped for a first EVA with 3 crewmembers in spacesuits between 11:30 am and noon. Second EVA in spacesuits for the 3 other crewmembers between 1:30 pm and 1:45 pm, interrupted by the dust storm. Back at the Hab at 3 pm.
Report Transmission Schedule: Commander check-in, Engineering report, EVA Reports, Geology report, daily log.
Maintenance: Upon return from our EVA, the batteries were fully discharged, Habcomm was running on UPS; we restarted the Coleman generator but had to request Don's help to get the inverter to accept the generator's input to recharge the batteries (see engineering report). The batteries are now charging.
Inventory: nothing to report.
Plans for Tomorrow: "Day off" (meaning reduced science activities but still in sim) to mimic what the Leonardo crew did on April 24. But we will send reports as usual!
Miscellaneous: nothing to report.
Support Requested: Waiting for the parts needed to fix the Casper generator so we can get back to a more sustainable power source...
