Log Book for May 4, 2005
Commander's Check-In
Anne Pacros Reporting

Weather: Very nice today again, and very dry until we got a big thunderstorm around 5:30 pm. Highs around 75F.

Crew Physical Status: This cold is still affecting one of the crewmembers. Another crewmember had a small injury because of a bungee cord that broke loose. See HSO report. The other crewmembers are fine.

Brief Narrative of Today's Results: Morning EVA to Candor Chasma for geology exploration. CRV preparation work. Afternoon EVAs objective was to test the CRV in Candor Chasma but a problem with the CRV transportation system prevented this objective from being achieved.

The Schedule: 9 am breakfast, EVAs between 10 am and 5 pm. Movie tonight!

EVAs: 10:15 am to 1:00 pm, EVA 5 with 3 crewmembers to Candor Chasma for geology exploration. 2:15 pm to 4:45 pm, EVA 6 with 2 crewmembers to Candor Chasma for CRV test.

Report Transmission Schedule:
  • Commander Check-In
  • Engineering Report
  • Geology Report
  • 2 EVA Reports
  • Daily Log
  • HSO Report

Maintenance: Maintenance on the generator (checking fuses, small fuel leak repaired); pictures taken for GreenHAB documentation; repaired faulty PTT button on one of the helmets.

    Inventory: nothing to be reported.

Plans for Tomorrow: Hopefully, receive the GPS (we did not get it today); EVA with the blue truck.

    Miscellaneous: nothing to be reported.

Support Requested: We are thinking of going on a long distance EVA with the blue truck but it's gas tank is half empty. We would like to avoid going to the Hanksville gas station (it would break our isolation protocole). Could we use ATV fuel for the blue truck?
