EVA-3
Sheryl Bishop Reporting

Objectives: Operation Evacuation - a simulation of an emergency egress designed by the students of Fernand-Seguin Elementary School, in Montreal, Canada.

EVA Team:
Commander: Anne Pacros
Crew: Anne Pacros, Natalie Cutler, Sheryl Bishop
Hab Comm: Christyne Legault

Planned Route: Immediate Hab vicinity

Timeline:
Don Suits: 13:45 MST
Enter Airlock: 14:30 MST
Egress: 14:32 MST
Checkpoint 1-5: Areas around hab with designated activities at each point.
Enter Airlock: 15:30 MST
Ingress: 15:32 MST
Enter Habitat: 16:00 MST

New Waypoints Established: N/A

Narrative: To simulate some of the actions an astronaut might have to perform during an emergency egress, the elementary students identified 5 activities for the astronaut to perform while fully suited. The Leonardo team laid out the route in collaboration with Christyne Legault, the project coordinator and a member of Mona Lisa. Commander Anne Pacros and Engineer Natalie Cutler volunteered to run the course for comparison to the men"s member, Commander Ricardo Patricio. Team Psychologist Sheryl Bishop took timing measurements and photographs of the exercise. The course required the astronauts to leave from the habitat door (check point 1), run up the hill at a safe speed to the observatory (check point 2), down the hill to a red flag where they had to lift a rock and position it several meters away (check point 3), continue around to the back of the habitat and squat twice (check point 4), then continue clockwise around the habitat to the front door (check point 5). Both astronauts were timed. Such knowledge not only demonstrates the restrictions and limitations of the suits upon movement but gave insight to the astronauts as to how various actions (e.g., bending, climbing, running) are affected by the change in the center of gravity produced by the suits.

EVA-4
Tiziana Trabucci & Cécile Sainte Marie reporting

Objectives: First long EVA, soil samples collection, ATV training

EVA Crew: Tiziana and Cécile

Planned Route: Candor Chasma

Timeline:
Don Suits: 1540 MST
Enter Airlock: 1600 MST
Egress: 1602 MST
Checkpoint 1-2: Candor Chasma - 1630-1650 MST
Checkpoint 3-6: South to East Hab vicinity to collect samples - 1700-1830 MST
Enter Airlock: 1838 MST
Ingress: 1840 MST
Enter Hab: 19 MST

Narrative: Today we planned to arrive up to Candor Chasma but we had to go back when we were at the middle of Cactus road because of a bad storm coming in our direction. On our way back to the Hab, we noticed that the storm was not a danger for us anymore and we decided to stop to gather samples near the Hab.
