Log Book for May 3, 2005
Commander's Check-In
Anne Pacros Reporting
Weather: Very nice today, highs around 70F.
Crew Physical Status: All fine, one crewmember still recovering from her cold (coughing).
Brief Narrative of Today's Results: No morning EVA because the soil was too muddy (it rained a lot yesterday evening). 2 EVAs in the afternoon.
The Schedule: Morning: 9 am breakfast, then worked in the Hab. EVAs between 2:30 and 7:00 pm.
EVAs: 2:30 to 3:30 pm, EVA with 3 crewmembers in the Hab vicinity for one of the student experiments (“Operation evacuation”). 4:00 to 7:00 pm, geology EVA.
Report Transmission Schedule: Commander Check-In 7 pm, Engineering report, Geology report, 2 EVA reports, Daily Log.
Maintenance: Fixed a hole in one of the spacesuits, and installed a connector on one of the backpacks to replace a missing switch. Manuals/documents organization (still ongoing!!!).
Inventory: The HSO started the inventory of the medical boxes (also checking the expiration dates…). This will be included in an HSO report at the end of our rotation.
Plans for Tomorrow: Hopefully, receive the GPS; more distant EVAs; get more crewmembers to do the “Operation Evacuation” experiment as test subjects.
Miscellaneous: Before our rotation we received messages about a possible media visit on May 6. Could we get a confirmation as soon as possible?
Support Requested: We have only 1/2 quart of 20-50 oil (as mentioned in the engineering report yesterday), to be used for ATVs and the blue truck. Maybe we need more for the blue truck because we plan to use it for long distance EVAs *and* for our trip back to Salt Lake City at the end of our rotation? For the ATVs we can use the 30 grade oil if that's OK.
