Log Diary
James Waldie Reporting
The more we discover on EVA, the more we realise that there is so much more to discover. Whether it is another interesting rock sample or design facet of our equipment, we just want to keep going with our explorations. This morning we had several EVAs, dealing with crew evacuation, geological sampling and thermal insulation. In the afternoon, a CRV EVA was planned.
Rémon and Mat was in the MarsSkins, and I was in a MDRS suit. The main problem was again the weather - this time wind! So strong you could lean into it and it would hold you up, and so loud the suit radios were next to useless. We began to lose parts of the CRV in transit, and we had to abort.
The advice to future crews is clear: try and do as much EVA work in the morning as possible, because the weather often turns nasty in the afternoon.
