Geology Report
Kurt Klaus Reporting

Standing on the shoulders of giants. Our geologist got a much needed lesson in local stratigraphy from Crew 12 records and the remote science team, namely Shannon Rupert, an MDRS veteran. He discovered he had the Hab situated one geologic unit to the west on the map he was using. We are now reoriented and want to thank the Remote Science Team (RST) for their help.

Following the RST's guidance, EVA 5 was spent looking for concretions along Hab Ridge. A small, isolated outcrop well populated with concretions was noted at:

Easting 517931
Northing 4250008

Coordinates were received from the RST today for the Comet Tail concretion site. This site will be examined as a candidate for CRV testing. Further EVAs are planned to visit the Comet Tail, Endolith (Crew 5 waypoint database), and Lith Canyon sites. Time and navigation permitting the science team would like to explore the region north up to and including the Coal Mine Wash.

With help from Rémon, the science team made a series of 2 cloud observations corresponding to overhead passes by TERRA and AQUA CERES Satellites.
