Engineering Report
Mathias Bonnet & Georg Grillmayer Reporting

Generator/Electricity:
The problem identified previously (periodic switch between generator and batteries by the inverter) was still there today. It was understood that the inverter was set to maximum current and was therefore asking for too much power from the generator. Once the generator was reaching its maximum capacity, the frequency dropped and the generator was automatically disconnecting from the inverter. This was repeated over and over and thus the batteries were not charged as neccessary.

It was found in the inverter setup manual that the basic menu could be reached by pressing the lower left key (GEN) for a few seconds before pressing the upper left key (INV) together for a few seconds.

This basic menu allows to tune the upper current limit for the AC1 and AC2 grid in the “Inverter setup” submenu under AC Input. The grid upper limit was previously set to 50 Amps. We lowered it until the generator was stable (20 Amps), which corresponds to a generator capacity of about 25%. The system is running fine so far.

Water Status:
The portable water tank was refilled.
Daily consumption at 19:30h: 25 gallons (100 liters)
Showers: 1
Flushes: 4

GreenHab System:
TST reading: 1/4 full
Tank #5 reading: still 1/4 full
Other tanks reading: 1/4 full

Hab Tools: None of the 3 available drills has any charger.

Transportation:
ATVs: all 3 were used today during 1 EVA
Remaining fuel ATV1: 1/4, ATV2: 3/4, ATV3: 3/4
ATV1 needs tuning of engine slow pace
ATV2 has the piece of plastic that blocks the speed handle to high regime gear

Mars-Suits:
3 suits used for EVAs.
The front glass of helmet #2 came off during the afternoon EVA, probably from not being well screwed and from the vibrations on the ATV.

Computer & Network: The hab webcam has been unplugged for testing for an upcoming videoconference.
