Log Book for March 23, 2005
Science Report
John Christian Reporting

Astronomy: There were problems with the observatory shutter panels due to high winds. They have been secured. See the Observatory Report for more details.

Radio, Balloon, and Climber: Nothing to report.

Human Factors: The crew is continuing to take their human factors tests in the evenings.

Biology: Nothing to report. For current GreenHab issues, see Engineering Report.

Geology: Rebecca, Kyle, and Heidi practiced using the photo-ionization detector (PID) to analyze soil samples in the field.

Navigation: Today the crew continued work on a spiderweb system of waypoints around the hab. This consists of a total of 72 waypoints on eight “spokes” that stretch 300 m from the hab. The data collected will be used to create a network of waypoints within a 300 m radius of the hab and create an updated elevation profile of the area. The northern, north-eastern, eastern, south-eastern, and southern spokes have been completed. We hope to complete the remaining spokes tomorrow if weather permits.
