Narrative: John and Doug practiced using the portable Photo-Ionization Detector (PID) that had been provided to us by Pine Environmental of Atlanta. This time it was used for familiarization with the equipment in anticipation of future EVAs. Time was also spent looking through the "Antarctic Pile" for 10-guage wire to use for installing a water pump (see engineering report). After about 1.5 hours, Jan joined John and Doug for some ATV training in suits.

Narrative: Jan took Rebecca and Heidi out for additional ATV training on the course a short distance from the hab. The EVA lasted approximately 40 minutes and involved driving the ATVs over several small hills and ditches to get a feel for handling the vehicles over the terrain. All EVA crewmembers completed each of the elements of the course successfully several times.
