Log Book for March 22, 2005
Commander's Check-In
Jan Osburg Reporting
EVA: We had two EVAs today (EVA-3 and EVA-4). The former was a pedestrian EVA to get familiar with the PID unit, while purpose of the latter was suited-up ATV training.
Crew Physical Status: everyone is fine and well-fed.
Brief Narrative of Today's Results: Our first day in sim was a busy one, as expected. We did some hab maintenance and organization in the morning, and had two successful EVAs in the afternoon.
Plans for Tomorrow: Continuation of hab repairs, replanning of rest of week (taking into account the heavy rain predicted for the next few days), training crew in EVA navigation and use of waypoint database and GPS software.
Report Transmission Schedule: later tonight, as usual…
Maintenance: the fifth hab backpack and helmet were fixed, work on the 12V system was begun, fixed inside door of backup airlock
Inventory: looks like we might already be running low on cheese, even though we budgeted over one pound per person. If this only were the Moon, instead of Mars, then we could think about ISRU ;-)
Miscellaneous: we noticed that after switching from the “old” Diesel oil (20W) to the correct oil for the generator (thanks again, Paul), one generator tank full now runs for about eight hours instead of barely six. We will adjust our daily refueling schedule appropriately.
Support Requested: none at the moment; we will likely put in a water resupply order tomorrow.
More to follow.
