Log Book for March 18, 2005
Commander's Check-In
Shannon Rupert Reporting

Today was the seventh day at MDRS for the Phase II crew.

EVA: We (all but Kelly) took an out of sim EVA up along Hab Ridge to continue work on concretions and to look for moqui balls. We did not find them using the coordinates that we had been given. Then we (all but Stacy and Veronica) went up to Lith Canyon and found a terrific sapping site and I took them to a site of secret treasures that I discovered while part of Crew 4.

Crew Physical Status: The crew is fine and in overall good health.

Brief Narrative of Mission Results: Veronica, Stacy, Amber and Lindsay collected more samples, completed photodocumentation and a preliminary mapping of the stratigraphy of the Dakota Sandstone. Veronica has almost completed the lab inventory. I scouted sapping and halophile sites.

Plans for Tomorrow: Veronica and Amber, and Lindsay and Kelly, will be departing in the morning. Stacy and I will continue our field and lab work and prepare for the arrival of Crew 37 at 10 am tomorrow evening.

Report Transmission Schedule: All reports will be in by 10pm MST. Reports to expect tonight:

1. Commander's Check-in
2. Commander's Log
3. Engineering Report
4. Geology Report
5. Biology Report
6. Science Report

The summary report is in progress and may be submitted tonight, but don’t wait up for it! Photos will be uploaded as normal.

Maintenance: We have a new generator.

Inventory: Nothing to report.

Miscellaneous: We had another amazing day on analog Mars. The weather has also been amazing the entire time we have been here.

Support Requested: None at this time.
