Log Book for March 16, 2005
Commander's Check-In
Shannon Rupert Reporting

Today was the fifth day at MDRS for the Phase II crew.

EVA: Stacy, Kelly and Lindsay went on an EVA to do SEMS in an area first studied by the Ex Alpha crew that may have been imaged by the Red Flyer. Kelly and Veronica completed a short pedestrian EVA near the Hab to collect concretions and complete engineering tasks.

Crew Physical Status: The crew is in good spirits and overall good health. Our one sick crewmember is still sick and is not improving. She rested for some of today. The rest of us are suffering from the sniffles but are otherwise fine.

Brief Narrative of Mission Results: Lindsay continued work on her soil samples. Debra interviewed each of us individually. Veronica continued the lab inventory and collected concretions and endoliths near the Hab. Stacy conducted a SEMS project.

Plans for Tomorrow: We will conduct an EVA to look at the stratigraphy imaged by the Red Flyer during its training flight. We will break sim at noon and take Debra to town as she will be leaving us.

Report Transmission Schedule: All reports will be in by 10pm MST. Reports to expect tonight:
  1. Commander's Check-in
  2. Commander's Log
  3. Engineering Report
  4. Journalist's Report
  5. Two Science Reports
  6. Two EVA Reports
  7. Crew Narrative
Photos will be uploaded as normal.

Maintenance: We continued cleaning the Hab. Kelly removed the old water pipes that were just hanging in and out of the shower room.

Inventory: We're all good. A lot of food left behind by other crews needs to be used. I suggest future crews try to plan their shopping around what is already here.

Miscellaneous: It is nice to see the Hab in operational condition once again. Today we were able to complete all of our objectives without having to clean or maintain some part of the Hab.

Support Requested: None at this time.
