Commander's Check-In
Shannon Rupert Reporting
Today was the second day at MDRS for the Phase II crew.
EVA: Veronica and Stacy went on an out of sim EVA to the Martian Squeeze where they collected concretion, desert varnish, endolith and lichen samples. Details of the concretions will be in today's geology report and there will be no EVA report.
Crew Physical Status: The crewmembers on site are in good shape. One sick crewmember is spending the night in Hanksville in an effort to improve her health. Two crewmembers are still enroute to MDRS after their car broke down. The last remaining crewmember has arrived safely.
Brief Narrative of Mission Results: We have been working on maintenance and cleaning issues at the Hab today. We did take some time this afternoon to accomplish some science objectives (see EVA).
Plans for Tomorrow: We will continue maintenance and cleaning of the Hab area in the morning and do some research in the afternoon. We will go into sim once all of our crewmembers have arrived.
Report Transmission Schedule: All reports will be in by 10pm MST. Reports to expect tonight:
- Commander's Check-in
- Commander's Log
- Engineering Report
- Journalist's Report
- Geology Report
Photos will be uploaded as normal.
Maintenance: We worked on cleaning and inventory of the lab. We did some painting on the lower deck, including the entire shower room. We filled in the trench.
Inventory: We will need more oil and gas. Estimated reserves good for about two days.
Miscellaneous: Weather is warm throughout the day and cold at night, but not freezing.
Support Requested: If anyone knows where the battery charger for the ATVs is located, let us know. We have two dead batteries.
