Executive Officer's Check-In & Report
Stacy Sklar Reporting
Tonight's report will be short because we are down to three crew members one of which is sick.
Today we said good-bye to our four engineering "Red Flyer" team members in Hanksville, who are driving back to the University of Illinois. While our sick crew member rested, the rest of the crew cleaned the hab and paid particular attention to the lab area.
We are expecting the CO for the second phase to arrive within the next hour and our diner tonight is spaghetti cooked by our Italian cook Veronica.
The Reports for Tonight will be:
- Executive Officer Check In & Report
- Engineering Report
Tomorrow's Plans: Finish cleaning the hab and organizing our science plans.
XO Report: This morning we said good-bye to our fellow "Red Flyer" crewmates. It was sad to see them go! We had a lot of fun and even though we did not get to fly all the different sites that we had planned we did receive images that really surprised the whole team. That was one of our goals! The other was to prove that the vehicle could be used as a geological tool and I think the images speak for themselves (See March 11, Daily Photos). While more work needs to be done on the evaluation of the "Red Flyer", ideas for a second generation vehicle were being discuss since the "Red Flyer" was grounded. Maybe we will call it the "Phoenix"!
