Log Book for April 19, 2004
Engineering Report
Gregorio Drayer & Alyssa Rzeszutko Reporting
Generator/Electricity:
China Special:
Voltage: 222 V
Hobbs meter reading: 913.3 hours
Oil change was conducted today to the China Special generator. After oil change the generator would not start from the starter motor or the pull cord. It seemed that the electrical circuit of the ignition system was not working. After moving and shaking the startup system and turning the key again it started and the generator came back to service. Apparently, the contacts inside the electrical circuit of the ignition system are defective.
Fuel Status (as of 18:30):
Diesel:
Quantity Remaining: 46 gal (US liquid) = 174.1 L
Consumed: 6 gal = 22.7 L
Propane Tank:
Reading: 68% (170 gal / 250 gal) = (643.5 L / 946.4 L)
Consumed: 0 gal = 0 L
Gasoline:
Quantity: 52 gal = 196.8 L
Consumed: 0 gal = 0 L
Pressurized Rover Gasoline Tank:
Quantity: 3/4 Full.
Consumed: aprox. 1/16 tank.
Oil:
Quantity remaining: 3.25 quarts = 3.1 L
Water:
Reading: Outside potable water tank level: 85.5 cm from the base.
Consumed: 34 gal = 128.7 L in last 24 hours.
(Note: 2 people took showers since yesterday's final reading)
Estimated Grey Water Used: 27.2 gal = 103.0 L in last 24 hours (assumed 80%)
Time: 19:15
Inside Tank: 33 gal = 124.9 L
(Previous reading at 04/18/04: 55 gal = 208.2 L)
Time: 23:10
Inside Tank: 21 gal = 79.5 L
HVAC: Nothing to report.
Transport: The pressurized rover worked well for its purpose. Only minor details need to be addressed, such as water refilling of the radiator, tail door adjustment, and transmission drive repair. These issues will be approached by the Crew 28's engineering team with Mission Support and solved in EVA10 on April 20th.
Mars-Suits: Nothing to report.
Computers/Networking Infrastructure: The network link has been lost periodically in the Hab. Strong wind may be responsible for this, but it is still to be confirmed.
Data Logger: The rain precipitation gauge was temporarily re-deployed near the weather station to measure amount of precipitation near the Hab in case it should rain.
Other: Alyssa gathered all supplies needed for the Toilet Supply Tank's float switch installation and contacted Gary Fisher for any further requests before she installs it tomorrow. The crew will need to monitor the functionality of the switch over this next week to ensure that it will work properly for the following crews. Alyssa also found another bin of plumbing supplies that will need to be organized. Despite the organization of the workbench and tools on the first floor, she suggests having a much larger, more sturdy work bench for all of the tools. It should be very obvious to the engineering team for what is needed when they come in after this season ends.
The filters that feed the TST from Tank #5 of the GreenHab were changed.
