Today:

Plants watered; surface plants (water fern and duckweed) thriving, and salad machine seeds are growing by leaps and bounds.

Gus and Kathleen finished cleaning the north end, and tacked down loose wires, as requested by Crew 27.

We removed the standing water on top of the plastic cover of Tank 2 and re-fixed the cover securely into place. As with Tank 4, we made a vertical screen to corral surface plants, and added azolla to Tank 2. We made three new screens on the outtakes of Tanks 2, 4, and 5, fixed the plastic cover of Tank 5 more securely.

While Tank 4 had returned to normal levels. Tank 5 was still low this morning. We added 20 gallons of potable water to Tank 5 to help replenish it and it now back to it's normal level.

Gus and Greg D. installed the weather station in the north end of the GreenHab; data collection will be attempted for tomorrow. Sensor locations are as follows:

Sensor Name Sensor Location
PAR* Sensor 1 Top of Mast
PAR* Sensor 2 Top of North End
Barometric Pressure In Datalogger Case
Wind Speed Top of Mast
RH/Temp Combo 1 On Mast in Radiation Shield Housing
RH/Temp Combo 1 Middle of South End
Temperature 1 North inside wall 1m from Floor
Temperature 2 North Wall at Top
Temperature 3 South wall above fan
Temperature 4 North end floor
* Photosynthetically Active Radiation in the visible light spectrum of 400-700n

Open Issues:

Treatment system appears not to be removing nitrate; we are currently evaluating Crew 27's assessment and proposed action for this issue (see report of 4/10)
