Commander's Check-In
Gus Frederick Reporting
Crew Status: Crew is tired from a long but productive day. Morale continues to be high.
Daily Recap: After breakfast, EVA-3 consisting of Steve and Alyssa took off North on the ATVs, towards one of the fossil areas indicated on the Waypoint spreadsheet. A little after noon, Gregorio and I started checking out, testing and assembling the Onset Weather Station for the GreenHab. The bench test was successful, so we spent the rest of the day installing the hardware. We ended up mounting it securely to the South outside wall of the GreenHab, and ran the communications cable along one of the guy wires attached to the Hab. We snaked the cable through the small sealed-up sample airlock, and up into the main computer area. All ten sensors were deployed. Full details are in the GreenHab report.
Around 1400, EVA-4 consisting of Kathleen and Greg headed out on the ATVs to Chluda Pass and Brahe Way. The second Dewey Vest test EVA was postponed due to different weather conditions, (slightly over-cast), as well as the fact that we were in the middle of installing the weather station.
Tomorrow's Plan: initiate logging of the weather station, and complete the Dewey Vest test EVA with the vest on.
