Normal chores in the GreenHab were performed on each of these occasions.
Information downloaded from datalogger with probe hanging in Tank #4. Information loaded onto hab computer.
Information downloaded from datalogger mounted on the centre beam in the greenhab. Information loaded onto Hab computer.
Information downloaded from datalogger outside North door. Information downloaded onto Hab computer.
Water level in the GreenHab was again about 5 inches below normal with no flow from Tank #4 to Tank #5. At 13:30 hours there was a flow of 3-4 drips every second. By 20:00 hours level was back to normal with a flow of 1 drip every 15 seconds.
Both aerators are working, one is in Tank #2 and one in Tank #4. These were cleaned today, improving their flow.
There were minimal Suds in Tank #2.
All plants were sprayed with water on each visit and have been fed today.
The sump pump is connected to a timer which activates the system at 12:00 hours and 00:00 hours.
The TST tank is still being filled as required by the pump.
Water level in the plant buckets is about 3cm from the top.
The trickling filter 2 hose, which is supposed to allow water to trickle from holes into the filter tank 2 above it has been the cause of water loss onto the floor of the GreenHab. Following advice from Gary Fisher I have disconnected this pipe and examined it. I found that only two holes were still functioning due to plant material having clogged the other holes. This was causing a higher pressure ejection of water than should have been through these holes, pushing the water over the edge of the tank. I have scrubbed this pipe and cleared every hole. I have reconnected the pipe which is now functioning properly and there should be no more water loss from this for some time.
I have checked filter tank 1 which has plastic piping instead of hose, and it seems to be functioning fine.
Due to the invaluable help that I have received from Gary Fisher I have sent an e-mail to him to clarify the other problems I found at the beginning of my rotation.
I have yet to forward the data logger spreadsheet as requested.
