Diesel China Special:
Time: 1330
Gas: Full
Oil: Full
Next Oil Change: 7 March, 1330
Emergency Stop @ 2020
The China Special arrived, bringing a much needed sense of relief since power restriction measures could be relaxed. The Hab was powered by the Lil Gennry partially today until the adaptor for the China Special arrived.
Addendum @ 2035: At 2020, the Hab entered a brown-out. Upon investigation and within 60 seconds of the brown-out, we found the China Special shooting sparks out of the exhaust. An emergency stop of the diesel generator was enacted. The exhaust manifold was abnormally glowing a bright orange and the entire generator had a burnt smell to it. Current status of the China Special: offline, gas slightly more than empty, and oil appears full. A more thorough investigation will occur tomorrow with sunlight, i.e. the China Special will not be reactivated for the remainder of the night. As we are now back on the backup gasoline generator, the crew is returning to reduced power consumption.
LP Tanks:
Time: 1805
Furnace Tank to Hab: 57%
Water:
Time: 1805
Inside: 21 gal
Outside High: 84 cm
Outside Low: 68 cm
Shower Bucket: 1 bucket to toilet refill tank
We are still using more water than normal in an attempt to get the GreenHab working again.
ATVs:
#1 - Oil ok. Gas full. Started ok.
#2 - Oil ok. Gas full. Started ok.
#3 - Oil ok. Gas full. Started ok.
The check belt lights are active on ATVs #2 and #3.
GreenHab:
Time: 1015
Relative Humidity: 62%
Temperature: 70 F
Hab: Construction on the China Special weather covering is completed. A minor setback was encountered with the discovery of an enormous buried rock blocking the entry of a support bar. Ryan and Kevin were able to remove part of the obstacle to allow the bar to be buried. Additionally, the handles for the inside airlock doors were completed and installed.
Suits: Nothing to report.
Notes: The ability of the "China Special" to power the Hab successfully is being doubted. From the experiences of this crew with the diesel generator, we trust the "Lil Genny" to power the Hab more than this new one.
