Log Book for March 3, 2004
Commander's Check-In
Kevin Sloan Reporting

Crew Status: All 6 crew members are in excellent condition.

Daily Recap: Today's main endeavors focused on several re-engineering tasks around the Hab. Don Foutz dropped off fresh water and gasoline supplies, and also brought out the new diesel generator that will be replacing the Generac. Dennis and Jason rewired the water supply pumps to be on two separate switches so that the user can create a delay before the second pump turns on. Dennis and Kevin also addressed a few GreenHab issues that needed to be resolved before any other projects could be initiated there. This afternoon Amy, Daniel, Dennis, Jason and Ryan went on a two-hour biology EVA, the crew's first of that nature. Today managed to be a rather relaxed day, and the crew was still able to accomplish a lot.

Tomorrow's Plan: Tomorrow looks to be yet another productive day, as two EVAs are tentatively scheduled. The first will hopefully take place fairly early, allowing both EVAs to be completed by mid-afternoon. Those not out on EVA will remain back at the Hab working on the never ending onslaught of maintenance tasks. The PSUMS crew members still need to find time to steal away to work on their rover.

Daily Reports: Tonight's reports should all be filed by from our end by 22:00. We are still working on a lot of the report procedure with the RST, so that will cause some delay with the EVA and science reports being filed to Mission Support. Tonight's reports still have not been finalized, as we are waiting on the RST to catch up. Hopefully we will soon have most of these procedural issues ironed out so that all reports will be filed to MS in a timely fashion.

Support Requested: Jason will be sending Mission Support a separate email tonight concerning issues with switching over to the diesel generator from the Generac. These issues should be addressed by MS and the MDRS engineers very soon (i.e. tonight), as the Generac propane supply will drop below a useable level within the next day.
